Discovering the Best of South Dakota
Day 1:
Start your day in the historic town of Deadwood. Take a walking tour of the town's many historic buildings, or visit the Adams Museum and learn about the town's rich history.
Next, head to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and marvel at the famous presidential sculptures. You can take a ranger-led tour or explore the park's many hiking trails.
In the evening, head to the town of Keystone and enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants or bars.
Day 2:
Spend your second day exploring Badlands National Park. Drive the Badlands Loop Road and stop at the many overlooks to take in the stunning views of the park's rugged landscape.
You can also hike one of the many trails in the park, like the Notch Trail or the Castle Trail.
In the evening, head to the town of Wall and visit the famous Wall Drug Store. The store offers free ice water, 5-cent coffee, and a variety of shops and restaurants.
Day 3:
Spend your last day in South Dakota exploring the Crazy Horse Memorial. The memorial honors the famous Lakota warrior and features a large sculpture that is still in progress.
You can also visit Custer State Park and see the park's many bison herds, or take a scenic drive on the Needles Highway.
In the evening, head to Rapid City and enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants or bars in the downtown area.
